Every
day the battle against cancer rages on... |
|
 |
|
 |
|
Despite the recent good news that incidence and mortality rates for
people with cancer are decreasing, cancer still remains a major
threat to human health. Today's researchers must continue to explore
every possible avenue of attack against cancer, and work to develop
the medications and techniques to reduce the threat of cancer on a
global scale.
We
can all play a part in the battle against cancer, by supporting the
scientists and researchers as they forge the way to a healthier,
cancer-free tomorrow. Won't you please join us, and be a part
of this noble endeavor to help save lives, and have fun doing it?
You
can Join Us if

ISC's
Beginnings... |
|
Indiana Sports Charities (ISC) was
founded in 1989 by Ron Kittle. Ron and his volunteer staff
are dedicated to assisting cancer research facilities and
education institutions throughout Chicagoland and Northwest
Indiana. |
|
|
|
Our
Mission... |
|
We believe one day the threat of
cancer will be a thing of the past. Our mission is simple:
do our part to help find a cure for cancer, by providing the
financial support that is necessary. No politics. No
overhead operating expenses. ISC is a completely volunteer
effort, there are no paid staff here.
So each member of the team is
contributing their time and skill(s) to the cause.
This also means that you can rest
assured that every net dollar we receive from your contributions
will go directly to the institutions that so desperately need it
to carry on their research. |

|
Our
"2008" Goal... |
|
Our current goal is to raise two
million dollars by the year 2008, and with your help we can make
that a reality. |

Childhood vs. Adult Cancers |
|
Childhood cancers primarily affect
children, teens and young adults. When cancer strikes children
and young people, it affects them differently than it does
adults.
Young patients often have a more advanced stage of cancer when
first diagnosed. Only about 20% of adults with cancer show
evidence of spreading at the time of diagnosis, yet 80% of
children show that cancer has spread in the body when the
disease is first diagnosed.
While most adult cancers result from lifestyle factors, such
as smoking, diet, occupation, and other exposure to
cancer-causing agents, the causes of most childhood cancers, are
not yet known.
